Yamaha RX 100 Bike Update: this bike launched with 99cc engine and today’s modern style

Yamaha RX 100 — A motorcycle that holds some of most historical and symbolic importance in India. Launched in mid 1980s, soon became rider’s number one due to lightweight body, quick acceleration and traditional exhaust note.

Discontinued in 1996, though its legacy persists because it still draws great interest from most enthusiasts and modders.

Possibility of a Relaunch

It is rumored that Yamaha may return the RX 100 in a revamped form also. There was no word of an actual revamp, but reports suggest that a relaunch would require pretty major changes for compliance with modern emissions and safety standards.

Are Yamaha model challenges and it can never be revived as model two stroke to four stroke engines already explained by management of yamaha players also.

What a RX 100 Might Look Like in The New Age

The RX 100 started with a plain old two-stroke 98cc, delivering just 11 PS and 10.39 Nm of twist.

Yamaha could take up to four-stroke upon Yamaha’s re-introduction of the bike, undoubtedly to BS6 norms. This will entail performance changes and less fuel efficient but the essence of the classic model must be there.

A future car could feature things like fuel injection, high-tech lights and a digital instrument cluster with disc brakes for better safety.

The look may be faithful to its retro roots but it would need updating to satisfy modern market desires.

Why RX 100 is still popular

It is available from stores, for just over three decades(roughly) the RX 100 is a sought after model even when discontinued! Its very basic design, maintenance and extraordinary riding trait have just what it took to keep it alive.

A number of ancient edition old models are still on the road in India, getting service from mechanics and bike enthusiasts alike being brought back to life.

Problems to Solve Before Reintroducing It

But it is not as easy as to release a new model, when it came in the form of RX 100. Major (and complex) problem is to comply with India’s stringent emission standards that ban any form of two stroke engine on the road today.

Yamaha would have to build a fresh engine but need this new bike to deliver the performance and individuality that made her original a classic.

Then the competition in market. Today there are quite several modern transport logistics and on the same fuel efficiency (plus much more) available.

Yamaha could get the RX 100 off enough to see a success again provided that it finds the balance between nostalgia and utility.
